Hands warm & cheeks burning from cold
Drenched in fat raindrops
Our weekly 6 mile dance down the trail
Turns water logged and arctic
Every step in time
We know each other's stride
From the first boy that broke your heart
Because he liked me better
To the pinky promise
And camping at Mt. Madonna
There were sleepover nights
And my big secret that I told you
I was safe in the sofa bed
Where we watched movies
Gone With The Wind at 2 am
(I don't recommend starting it at that time)
We used to swoon over boys
And now we chat about husbands
Where did the time go?
I guess we've been having fun
Not a thing has changed
As you frown and pout
And I smile and dance
Because we're getting drenched
Still next to each other
We take our steps together
Today, I may be a running partner
But our friendship will be forever
Author notes
Tracy and I have been friends since we were 9 years old. I don't know what I would do without her. Having her in my life has changed me in ways I don't think I am able to explain.

Friendships come and go in many different packages, but the one you have portrayed here, is one that I think you will hold onto for a long time.
I like this, brings a pleasing smile. Thank you and well done. -
