My Valentine Song Just For You

Missing image
Not clever or witty,
I'm writing this ditty
to tell you what
you mean to me.

I'll break the ice
by saying you're nice
(at least..far
as I can see).

My glasses are thick,
I don't think real quick,
but I know you're
as sweet as can be.

For a honey like you,
only chocolates will do,
and flowers sent
non-C.O.D.

In place of a card,
I worked really hard
to write this song
acapelli.

I'm honest, I'm true,
I really love you,
(and on top of all that,
I'VE GOT MONEY!)

You are so fine,
BE MY VALENTINE!
We'll make love like
the "EASTER*" BUNNY!

(Banging our drums
until kingdom comes,
we'll keep going and going
and going!)

Maureen Halasovski - February 3, 2008

and, besides, bunnies are all alike!)

This is really really cute! Love it. Love the way you rhymed with "I've got money" and the line, "flowers sent non-C.O.D" is great. You really did deserve the gold for this poem.

      Dear Joan,

It's great having you back, my sweet soul sister! I'm happy you and your daughter, Sharon, had such a good time visiting King Hugh. I thought Australia and New Zealand were in the same time zone (shows what I know). Rest up so you'll be ready to get back to doing what you do so well (writing poems for the huguenauties contests). Although, if you still need more time to rest, you can always enter one of your favorite poems. I'll be very interested to read your entry(s) whatever they may be!

      Love and Hugs,
      ♥ Maureen

Maureen, this is a wonderful spoof for Valentine's Day. You gave me my first big smile of the day! (I am NOT a morning person) Can I please borrow your every-ready bunny?

I read this yesterday, I guess I forgot to comment. Maybe I got caught up in the video.

    "Banging our drums
    until kingdom comes,"

No way I'm going to ask exactly what part of the body that means, You might tell me a part I never thought of!

Now my head is swaying to the song,

"All we need is love...da da da da"

and then it gets confusing because I hear drums banging and then I get to wondering again, just what body parts those might be..."lordy, lordy set me free!"

Sorry, it's Friday and I've been in the Moxie cabinet already.

    Dear Maureen,

To make love like an Easter Bunny
takes so much drive it isn't funny
for, after the first hour or two,
the buck runs dry and he's all through.

As Bonaparte once told the Kaiser:
    "Unless you have an energizer,
you'll find you soon run out of steam
as I did with my Josephine."

Though Boney meant it just as flattery,
the Kaiser went and bought a battery
and, after he had had his fun,
he went and started World War One.

Well, this caused lots of upset wenches
whose lovers lost life in the trenches.
    They thus devised from history
    that love is better battery-free.

Now Ludwig was a better king -
sans cards, sans flowers or anything
    in fact, by 1879,
    he'd never had a Valentine.

The reason being, it's said, that he
    was busy building castle Three.
If Hitler'd built a castle Four,
we'd not have had the next World War.....

The moral we can thus divine
    while castle building's very fine,
for Valentine's Day, it's much wiser
    not to use an energizer.

Ooooo! Sorry, dear, my mind after six days rest just ran away with me. It's your poem that inspired me to deliver this historical lecture. A great poem, deserving of massive votes.
Applause, love and hugs, XOXOXO Hugh (R.)

PS: Oh! YESSSS PLEASE! Rush me that video of Ludwig and the castles. You know I'll love it!

      Thank you, my Sweet Soul/Sister!

I'm glad you like my sense of humor! I think it was John Goodman (the actor) who said, "I enjoy a good laugh more than ANYTHING!" (and that's really saying something!)

      HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
