Asphalt Streams

the stagnant water

lies still under blood moons,

and tattered lily pads float

in fractured beams of light

cast from the shattered heavens;

the clouds are set on fire

by stray lightning bolts,

rogue rainstorms.

the pollution stained stars

bleed cold luminescence

as the porcelain moon fades,

an imperfect photocopy;

black and white, muted tones.

summer storms and flash floods;

the roads filled with acid rain.

giant rivers stained with concrete.

    I can hear your voice in this (matching it to your AP author picture!) When one can hear the author's voice, one can read the author's writing forever...

    Timeless ending - you have captured so much imagery from such a drifted prompt. Beautifully crafted.
