The good news is that he is here
To quell my doubt and banish fear,
To promise wonders with a kiss
And guarantee my endless bliss.
His quick assurance soothes me,
His love is all my own.
He touches me so smoothly,
The sweetest that I've known.
The bad news is that he was there,
These words were whispered in her hair;
He promised her the moon and stars
Rendered through backseats and bars.
He's nothing but a liar
Hiding where he's been,
And though he may deny her,
His alibis grow thin.

Smooth talkin' and lies walkin'! The first stanza is so sweet. The second, startling contrast with "these words were whispered in HER hair" is a slap in the face! Ouch-eth! Time to set the garbage on the curb! Congrats on the silver!

Lord of mercy. To quote a country Western song “Men. You can’t live with them and you can’t just shoot them.” Well actually, you can but it will stain your carpet something awful and interfere with your retirement plans. I like your poem.

I love that you squeezed alibi in here. Normally you need one of those when you've committed a crime!!!! Gotta love all the players in this world cause they make the good guys look even better. Thanks for entering and good luck.
