Angels Rape The Night

Night enters the celestial ball,
cloaked in velvet, her gown studded
with stars, and her somber face
stands out amidst the throngs.

A black veil covers her exquisite
features, as a silver tear slides
down her pale cheek, a requiem for
her lover, the moon, who is no more.

"The moon is dead," they whisper,
hollow voices echoing through the
room, as Night tries so desperately
to hide the anguish in her heart.

She knows their cold, unfeeling eyes
are upon her, as she, without her lover,
stands alone in this heavenly Hell,
deprived of light, of warmth and safety.

Oh, how she envies Day, with the sun's
embrace, warm on her back, and how she
wishes for her beloved moon to shine upon
her face again, and hold her in the dark.

Unnoticed, she tears through the crowd,
clinging to whatever fragments of light
she can find, as quivering lips threaten
to crack, spewing forth sorrowful screams.

Fiery bullets push through bones
of velveteen midnight, and the loveless
Night drowns, until she rises and is
reunited with her dearest Moon once more.

I can honeslty say I'm speechless right now... Even though the cutting of the lines from the middle (which I'm usually not that fond of), this is such an amazing story you wrote here! You had me from the first stanza and I had to read it to the end to see what would happen... Wow! I can also say honestly this is one of the best stories I've read here in allpoetry for a looooong time. I love good stories and this surely is that.

I just adore how you took the Night, the Moon, Day, Sun, all that and brought it to a world that we can understand. The imagery is superp and I believe a lot of people can relate to this poem.

Amazing job with this one! Thanks for sharing it with all of us!
