Who Am I?

I am perplexed…
But not nut a nutcase
Or a bookcase
With a briefcase
Trapped in time
In this brief place
Just in case…
(I am borne in these transfigured states of America)

I have anorexic thoughts
And have swelled up with profundity
I am a stargazer
I am mixed minerals
I am skin deep
I am my mother’s son
I am not the only one
And I think I have emotional amnesia…

I looked for clues under my pillow
As a boy I pondered under a weeping willow
I peep for a hint or a holler
I am challenged
I am searching me
Clothed in robes of reflection
I am an inflection
Am I your perception?

I am sin-deep
In gingerly, I seep
Undeterred, I creep
I keep missing sleep
Reap what I sowed
Stowed away like Harriet
But I carry it…
As for me, I want to be acreages of greenery

    Who are you?

Author notes

Someone was listening to my reflections about my life and sparked this question in me. I think it was said kind of, 'tongue-in-cheek' but it sent me to my thinking chair...Who AM I? So, after about 1 week (last night actually), I scribed this piece. Thanks for the prick...

I think you did a good job on 'self' at least it reads very normal, you jump from perplexed to absolute knowledge, from boy to man,'you will reep what you sowed, I was intrigued,

  • the ultimate question,
so why do we need to know.
we all do but the why always intrigues me

Pisces, thanks like always for the great visit and your kind words. I think we 'need' to know because it burns or pulls at us. I think that if we all were already certain of the answers to this pentetrating question we might see some of the most incredible and life-fullfilled people around. So, I don't know if all already know. Maybe part of the answer? I could buy that... OR, perhaps we are drawn to or pulled on by that 'self-discover-me' sensation (lol). Never can be too sure.
  • "clothed in robes of reflection, I am an inflection, am I your perception?" I really like that rhyming pattern, and also, "acreages of greenery" very coolio!

    'And I think I have emotional amnesia…'
That so jumped out at me.. wow that is a wonderful way to put a block..

'As a boy I pondered under a weeping willow'
I have found their healing effects wonderful and would also sit under one as a kid, and looked for them when we would move, to make sure I had a good thinking spot..

'As for me, I want to be acreages of greenery'
As would I, as would anyone.. Just to blend in and be appreciated for what we are..

And the end line, 'Who are you?' that was great! I am rarely at a loss for words, I mean rarely.. This is a profound and astounding write. You are really talented. 'Breathless'...

I have a new found infatuation with words.. Thank you!

Priceless inspiration you give...Thank you so much. I have a new found admiration for positive feedback. I think I'm going to add you as a fav for some more air to my inflated craninum (lol).
