I crawled into his lap and put my head under his chin.
He wrapped his arms around me tightly and rocked me gently.
He didn't say a word because he knew it wouldn't help.
I was in too much pain.
If only she was still here.
As I was listening to his heart beat, I thought.
In a way, he was just like her.
Always there to comfort me when I was in pain.
Always right behind me whether I was right or wrong.
Always there to tell me NOT to do it,
even when I know I shouldn't.
God I miss her.
The only thing that helps ease the pain,
Is knowing that I only have a few more years.
And then I can see her whenever I want.
She'll take care of me.
And I'll take care of her.
But I won't forget about him.
He'll still be there.
He promised he would be.
To protect me from harm,
when she isn't strong enough.
He said he'd do anything for me.
I promised him the same.
He even said he'd take a bullet for me.
I believe him.
Author notes
This is my absolute favorite.
It's very personal.
