The doorbell rang
And I stepped outside
Into the frigid air
But no one was there
I looked around
Thinking it must be some kind of prank
When lo and behold
There was a beautiful basket
Filled with pine cones
Curiously I took the basket inside
And set it on the table
A card hung from the handle that read
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't find any roses in the winter
So I picked out the best pine cones I could find.
Happy Valentines Day!"
My eyes grew wide
As I started to laugh
Then I started to cry
For I had the coolest guy on Earth
Who would think of such a thing
Instead of feeling it "his duty"
To buy me a dozen roses
Or a box of chocolate
Like every other guy does for his girl
So now I'm sitting here
With a basket of pinecones
Wondering...
How do I get him back as good as this???
Author notes
I truly would get a kick out of it and then my emotions would get the best of me... so yeah. Prompt 2! Loved the idea.

How about a dozen of those pinecone kisses-lol. Funny and charming I must add, for chocolates and roses would only make you sad! I bet under those pinecones you will find, a promise ring of the sparkling kind! Good luck in the contest.

Nicely done and I actually wrote a short story about that idea I had. This is pretty much exactly what happened in it. Nicely done thanks for entering!
