Mary Teapot

Missing image
Honey comes with Mary’s smile
when paisley spouts of tea
Pour to china cups for all
first them, then her, and me.

Greetings fall from wonder mints
to chamomile array
So porcelains with apple gold
will make for cheerful play.

Her gentle hand will serve us
the liquid garden steam
With chat and conversation
and sweetened drops of cream.

Tables serve her cayenne pots
in orange, and earthen red
Copper shows her muffin grin
in every word that's said.

We’ll love the floral potion
in every treasured sip
Once the whistle brings to us
her songful fellowship!

Quick or reworked? Was this instant or labored? You have a gift to make things happen and make them evolve. I do not think my questions are trite. I really want to know if they are 'one' time through or worked on? Either way the pleasantness of this piece shines. Was it inspired, or just another a day at the office? RC

AHhhaww. Thank you, Robin. What a neat thing to say. It will encourage me, you can be sure.

Cold writes without edits are 10-1. If I have rhyming poetry or blank verse, it is a labor. I edit it to pieces until the crumbs of the clay fall off and become a shined piece. Even after publication!
Otherwise, I leave it up to peers for their insight on free verse. All suggestions are welcomed and considered.

      Glad this was .......YOUR...cuppa' tea..lol
Yes. Inspired by someone we know who reminded me of a teapot. Found out. She was a COLLECTOR! Didn't know it..lol.

      Bless you this day!

    Perfect

It is a reflection of your subtle craft that you are able to create this beautiful poem. The meter and feet are perfectly blended with a natural rhythm and rhyme. The flow is beautiful, it never seems forced or "structured."

This one is perfect and I intend to study it. It sounds so lilting when spoken. It is not an exaggeration nor cliche to say it is an "instant classic." I am in dumb stricken awe. What a wonderful reminder of what the best of poetry can be.

Furthermore, it is elegant in its' simplicity and captures just the right tone of understatement. It is so refreshing and leaves the reader with such a warm feeling.

To write this so well and with seeming effortlessness is a gift that transcends talent and is that for which the angels envy you.

    Thank you.
