Never accessible
emotions shunned the light, found
places of pale night
and un-seeing eyes; dwelled
well in aloof sanctity.
Buried beneath closed words
obscured by blinding glare
light that covers from sight;
such is the instinct to self preserve,
rest in life undisturbed.
A shed skin grows another
while that which shrinks from day
smothers away and
does not find the sun.
I found wonder upon a blank wall
in a dream of dreams, and spirit
guided my hands to open an empty purse
to discover wealth beyond measure.

He does have very wise words, and your poem follows his line of thoughts.
The last stanza is amazingly good in depth!
This is one of the poems I like to keep to read again and again.
