In silhouette of sunset
stand poppies tall and proud
bathed by day with warmth of sun
as faces open skyward.
Tender buds they hang their heads
in shy grace their faces closed
in birth still new they hide away
in safe shadows of the night.
Standing tall awaiting
fresh blooms ready for their awakening
when the sunrise of the morning
will open proudly to their destiny.
But now against the backdrop
of nature's fine romance
they'll sleep until tomorrow
when new day reveals new signs.

I like the opening but I can see the picture and wasn't really looking for a description (however you wrote it well, so credit where it's due). The second stanza is very sweet, especially the poppies being "shy" so they hang their heads. 3rd stanza is a bit lacking compared to the others, but the 4th picks it up again to leave it on a nice ending..."nature's fine romance" - good word choice.
Thanks for your entry and good luck x
