Bracing myself for the unpredicted
while walking a wakeful dream,
Feeling my way through this unexpected
magical life-giving scheme.
Fully aware, with a ghostly suspense
that a challenge beyond my means,
Might come and affront my good-natured sense
while attacking my self-esteem.
Living beneath this thick-coated armor
a gentle guardian gleams,
Standing ready, to come and disarmor
and neutralize any scene.
Ruling my world with a fearless living
Teaching my soul the art of forgiving.
Weaving my way through life’s many mazes
with friends, that I know I’ve got.
Taking advice when obscurity hazes
or comes to uproot a peaceful plot.
Understanding the wealth of good temper
and richness that can’t be bought,
Knowing just what, can prevent or hamper
the gentleness of good thought.
Confidently knowing that reasons
justify all that is wrought,
And like life ... comes to us in seasons
and lessons come when they ought.
Ruling my world with a fearless giving
Teaching my soul the fine art of living.

Your point is well taken by this reader. You have a talent that few possess in your ability to fit a timely message within the given poetic form. Excellent work my friend. I hope you do well in the contest.
Sincerely,
Leo Long

A good effort, thanks for the read. it's never easy to rhyme every line and maintain the poems sense of direction and flow, but for the most part i feel that you achieved that.
