the punishment we never thought we deserved

screaming down a wide
expanse marked only by
twisting road of gravel shade

the stones of which,
after my break neck pace
slowly rise in the
condescending wake

and clattering after me
the dust storm rages
slowly gaining

the hissing swarm softly
singing its faithful
hail to death

comes finally to tear my skin
fraying the edges of this
tightly wound film of
sanity that i hold
white knuckled
and crying
blind

until the end
numb with pain
and the sensation
of horrific white
nothingness

ceasing to contain my
ecstatic hyperventilation
and now the black screaming
swarm slowly fills the shreds
of my fast exploding soul

leaving me with white on black
pulsing shades, till a blank
gray distends into the void

Author notes

sure all emotions are valid, and i'm not denying any anything i can give them, it's just i don't want to deal with this right now so i'm kinda denying it or something

Give it a title. I think maybe the last two stanzas are not perfect, but I think you did a good job with this, despite the fact that you don't like it.
