Walking On

Sigh.
Why do I?
Will I?
Should I?…

“Oh baby,
I long to be
With you.
But, why did you go?”
            …No.

Staring at it,
I stand at the corner
Of  6th and Rockefeller.
My jacket up to my ears.
The heavens pouring their frozen tears.

A date approaches.
A date I yearned for.
A date I loathe.
A day for love,
A day I’m destined to be alone.

The light changes to “WALK”.
I cross the street.
Turning my back
On the rose,
Whose name was yours.

But every rose has its
Thorns.

Author notes

Wow, now this makes me nostalgic for Manhattan. Wonder when i'm going back?...
