well built

the cornerstone, the glue that holds the sum of all parts
every building starts with a foundation
without which, supporting walls could never stand
time nor elements can ever move or sway
properly laid, it binds the structure together
provides integral strength to the body

next come frames, outlines that define the area
giving form to an otherwise shapeless body
adding needed texture to wide open spaces
walls are raised, offering protection and quiet

strategically placed windows
give peaceful views to the outside world
doors to gain access
or provide safety from harms way

finally a roof
uppermost point of the project
giving needed shelter from the elements
relief and solitude from daily distractions
visible above all others
its strength and integrity
hardly seen and often overlooked
relied upon to always remain intact

all the steps necessary
to make a strong building
each one as important as the other
careful detail paid to each
insures long life and satisfaction

blueprints for building
promises of the heart, the kind dreams are made on
careful and crafted from square intentions
plumb and true to one another
always withstanding
the tests of time

    i liked this..
it reminds me of the growth process i have had with my newlywed hubby...
our struggles to build what we have like the nicest home...planning along and weathering the worst storms.
this is definately a love poem

    beautiful metaphor!
love can and will test the weathers of time...
I almost think of the three little pigs...
some wolves may come and try to huff and puff but....
no one is blowing that house down

Lovely. A house not divided against itself at all will truly stand.

This displays a love that's not rushed as is the traditional "TV romance". This is built, crafted by an artist. Put together peice by peice intentionally. So many seem to grab materials and throw it in a pile. When they're left with wreakage, they wonder why it didn't work. What you wrote of it strenth, and that is rare in this day in age. Awesome job. God bless!

i think this is a beautiful piece that speaks right to the heart of what the strongest relationships are made of...love can be many things...but the love that lasts forever is built from the ground up...and within those walls is the safe harbor that protects and saves us from any and every storm...wave on wave...it saves...

This is one of the most beautiful and real love poems i have ever seen...breathtaking
