A July Day

The kids are all done
The school buses wait
In hot, dusty sunshine
They fade by the gate

A garden hose fills
An inflatable pool
The plastic is melting
But the water is cool

The day camps fill up
With kids, sweaty and tanned
Braiding macrame bracelets
In the shade and in sand

The burnt grass is thirsty
For rain it can't remember
The adults turn up fans
As they wait for September

Please tell me what you think
