I am not one who falls and does not rise
In midst of battle, nor that swiftly dies
Without attempt to live. It is not me
Who fears the dangers that assail the brave:
Afraid to die, would rather live a slave.
A mortal such as that I’d never be:
I’ll stay the course and keep on with the fight,
For nothing in this world can me affright
But failure that I have not tried to change.
That thought alone of all things frightens me,
Because I know the future I would see
Will not arrive, though time be rearranged.
Tis not in me to yield in times of strife,
For I hold honor higher than my life.
Author notes
Just a thought after reading Julius Caesar and letting my mind wander a bit in class. I really should start paying closer attention and writing less.
On second thought: it's also a new kind of sonnet form that I thought up while thinking about the evolution of sonnets.

A very fine sonnet (?) indeed! Although I don't recognize the form...most excellent... bravo

Yes...I was rather bored and decided to come up with a new form that tried out different structures throughout the sonnet. It's fun to play around with rhyme schemes.
