Mermaid Myths

Deep, deep down in the deepest sea dark,
below fairy light jellys and swivel eyed shark,
in the endless realms of the ebb and the flow,
this is the world the mermaids know.

Sleek, deep-sea fish swim with synchronous twists
through the endless depths where no border exists,
where nothing is still to the touch or to eye,
this is the world through which mermaids fly.

Where sinuous worms with ribbons and frills,
turn inside out with contortionist skills,
where are creatures with eyes of exorbitant size,
here’s where the mermaid wonders and sighs.

Deep, deep down in the deepest sea dark,
below fairy light jellys and swivel eyed shark,
in mysterious depths the mermaid swims with,
the dream of a man, or is he a myth?

    Hi Funpum. Sorry it's been so long since I've commented on one of your poems. Anyway, this is a beautiful poem with wonderful imagery. Great flow, too.
    I liked the second and third stanzas the best. They seemed to take the reader on a journey into the world that the mermaids live in. Best of luck to you in the contest.

    A great poem with some wonderful, swirling, sinuous phrases that conjure a mermaid swimming image for me. Eg swim with synchronous twists
    through the endless depths where no border exists
    The last line
    the dream of a man, or is he a myth
    has me pondering. Is he a typo for she? or are you having a bit of fun?. A point to ponder. "Are mermaids myths or mythis" to a lisper?
