Waiting faithfully
As night turns to day
Banging down the door
To let the humans know
The kittens are hungry
As loyal as kitten can be
We chat and play with each other
Being cute and playful
To display our power
The forbidden portal opens
The human's hand reaches out
Sets the blue bowl down
Filled with delicate treats
Munching and chewing away
Crunching and licking our paws
Our tummies full as can be
We retreat back to our chamber
After a nice little kitten nap
We get back into the same routine
Only this time our world is disturbed
No one is home!
Enraged we push the bowl over the edge
All of the sudden senses go on alert
Sniffing the air and perking our ears
We sense something or someone is nearby
Slowly and cautiously tip toeing to the corner
The scout checks the area out and sends a soft meow warning
Human Alert! Human Alert!
We're being surrounded!
As fast as we dare to go
We run for the hole to retreat back to the chambers
Loud noise after loud noise foot step after foot step
Attempts to follow us
MEOW!!! HISS!!! CLAWS SWIPE THE AIR!!!
Stay back we all meow in unison
Or else we will take you down!
The human gets the message and retreats
Quickly back to the forbidden portal.
Light suddenly becomes dark
We huddle together in preparation of sleep
Rattle! Rattle! Rattle! goes the bowl of food!
Slowly we get up and investigate this strange sound
Poking my head under the fence through the hole
We see a small light as turned on and the loyal human has the bowl
Here Kitty Kitty Kitty!
Here Kitty Kitty Kitty!
I go to further investigate sending meow warnings to stay behind
The sight we behold stuns me
Its the extremely delicious treats and good cat food!
Meowing my okays
My kitten friends make their way up to the porch
As we gorge to our hearts content as we know
This is the last meal for us
Until day light wakes us up!
We eat quickly and run away as fast as possible
Hearing strange growling we barely stick our head out to see
The strange grey white and black striped beast appears
Eats the rest of the meal we never
Had much of a chance to truly enjoy
Sighing to ourselves
We retreat back to the chambers
That we know will never be disturbed by any animal
As long as we know
Our loyal human tends to us!

What can I say my kittens came to me today and there was 2 large loud trucks outside from comcast yet again and well they ate my treats and some food but were scared away later by the raccoon! Oh well! At least they ate

I love kittens, especially orange ones, though I don't have a pet at the moment. The closest I have are my best friend's two little puffy Persian kittens, who are absolutely adorable! I just love watching them interact with each other; they have very distinct personalities indeed, like little fur-babies

Excellent piece, a nice take on the life of a kitten. We sometimes forget that animals sometimes get into a routine of letting humans take care of them. Should do well because it really sounds like it was written by kittens.

There were several times during my youth where I have wondered what could possibly be going through the minds of these lovely creatures and those alike as I am quite sure the world must be very frightening to them and rather frustrating at times not having to know if and where they could find their next meal.

it reminded me of kittens that once visited our property
as we tried to lure them in...to give them a home.
It was our youngest little daughter who finally caught
them..they were intrigued i think by her sweet little
baby talk.

I have to say this is highly and well within the sappy bandwidth. But I enjoyed the style and flow very much. The detail and imagery gave it a sense of urgency and perhaps let some of us into the world of unthinking creatures.
A hard task to accomplish with words. -
This is a great poem.
Makes me think of the cats that we had a few years ago.
We had to get rid of them because my mom is allergic to them.

Reminds me of the story Watership Down which is a first-person narrative, as I recall, from a rabbit's point of view. I wonder if you could add a few poetic flourishes to this to make this sound more poetic. Perhaps add a little flair to the word choice. This is only a hair's breadth across the poetry-prose border.

A very well penned piece by yourself. A great delight to read, and cleverly done from the kitten's perspective. A lovely reminder how even these so called "wild" characters, even with all their boldness place trust in us. Reminded me of a mother and her kittens I befriended whilst on holiday in Spain.

This poem reminded me of a book I've read to children. It was exciting to feel the story unfold in a unique aspect. Being a cat and feeling every thought and emotion through the event that affects them the most. I have enjoyed your stories as you have learned to take new viewpoints. I really loved this...and not just becuase it feature kittehs. It has a really nice flow to it. And I loved how you made it so that the cats had a semi narrative. And the way you made it so that the kittens KNEW who was really in charge (ahem..them) and bluntly say that humans are their slaves. hahahaha. I love it! Great write!
