That warmth of your small head against my breast,
While you played with the angels in your sleep.
Soft breathing in the quiet of your rest,
This seed so deeply sewn, my gift to reap.
I've spent so many hours kneeled down in prayer,
For I could not be with you all the time.
Your sojourn in this world's not in my care.
My guidance and your choices are sublime.
Though I wish for my child every good thing.
I cannot hold their hand in future days.
I've had to let you go to test your wings,
And trust that my good rearing somehow pays.
Your soul is free to wander place to place.
Know; every dream you dream you can embrace.
Author notes
Inspired by the quote:
"On Children: "You may give them your love but not your thoughts.
For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls,
For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams."

Oh this is just beautiful
these words really touched me as wise and contemplative
...
"I've spent so many hours kneeled down in prayer,
For I could not be with you all the time.
Your sojourn in this world's not in my care.
My guidance and your choices are sublime."
especially the last 2 lines and the opening stanza gave me such a warm feeling inside
One thing though, you CAN hold their wings in future days, but we must be there and let them know we accept their decisions
wonderful heart touching write. thank you for your wonderful entry and good luck. be well and be blessed

Your soul is free to wander place to place.
Know; every dream you dream you can embrace.
