There’s just something in the way
Your hair curls rebelliously around your ears
‘Too long,’ you say, ‘too long’
But I have to disagree
(it’s soft past my fingertips
and it smells like home)
When you take off your glasses
To look me straight in the eye
Something suddenly throws me --
(just so used to seeing your eyes framed
that when they’re free it’s rather jarring
and I remember so clearly, so suddenly
how handsome you are)
It’s somewhere in the realm of how
I can turn around and find myself
Surprised that you are tall
Or surprised that your arms
Are around my waist
(but that’s neither here nor there)
It doesn’t matter if there could be flaws
That others could perhaps point to
Because when I look at you
I can’t help but want to kiss you
(and that’s rather what matters, I think)
Because yours is the face I love the most
And I think you’re sort of perfect
(isn’t that just the silliest thing?)
