Distant

Her unsual dark blue eyes are piercingly enchanting
As she stares off into the sun with the window open
The brisk Massachusetts air whips her hair around
As she rides forty miles an hour down the smooth highway
She closes her shadowed eyelids and breathes in the scent
Of fields filled with cows and the tall grass swaying
A split second later she opens them to the sounds
Of a thousand grey birds flitting overhead
Mourning the loss of the summertime weather
The massive flock dips and curves with the road
Swiftly gliding and cutting through the cool air
With their tiny wings and sharp orange beaks
Dusk is approaching as the motor quiets
And a fleeting feeling of anxiousness flashes
As the car floats off the edge of the cliff
And edges slowly toward the ground below
Sound is silent and motions are slow
In the distance she can see the end
She can see nothing and she is at peace
Her arms in the air she flies
And lands safely in the clouds
Where the birds are chirping and her gown is white
She is free

Wonderfully imagery here. Another piece I could just imagine listening to whilst in the car due to the imagery presented and I could just imagine her hair whipping back in the breeze.

I usually don't dig poetry about suicide, but this was truly beautiful. The way you set the scene was both skilled and sensitive. I was caught up in all the imagery throughout this piece. Instead of giving a feeling of despair, the ending gave me a sense of peace. Lovely.
