Take a trip into a magical land
One where pirates roam,
Lost Boys play,
And Indians dance.
"And each a murderous crook."
Follow the second star to the right
And fly off into your dreams.
Smoke the peace pipe with Tiger Lily
And have a pow-wow with her Indians.
"We massacre Indians,"
Join Peter and his gang
And help build a house for Wendy.
"Kill little boys,"
OR….
Throw in your lot with Captain Hook
And his dastardly pirates…
"And cater to Captain Hook!"
Sail the seas on the Jolly Rodger…
Evade the crocodile…
Capture Indians…
"Yo Ho! Yo Ho!"
Chase Peter Pan…
And make Wendy walk the plank!
"The terrible Captain Hook!"
I know I did.

This is a great poem. I must say the word cute came to mind. Not often do cute and pirate go together. Anyway, i love that you have a personal connection with this poem, those kind are the best. Great work.
peace

The lines from the song from the musical are used effectively to bring the reader to the production, but the original lines give us a sense of reaction to the characters and events as audience members caught up in the story.

Peter Pan has to be one of the most awesome-est plays. this poems rellay energetic and cute. i like.

Wow, this is really cute and creative. It was nice to read that you were really in Peter Pan. I enjoyed the energy, fun and sense of adventure in this poem. My favourite lines were definitely
"Follow the second star to the right
And fly off into your dreams."
I wish you good luck in the contest.

Awesome job on ths write!! WOW Good luck in the contest.....Good luck in the contest......Lynda

I have to say I liked Nams suggestions - the alliteration would work much better, and without the repetition of Hook.
Nice job on the poem, this was cute and you described both parts well - nice job and best of luck in the contest. -

Peter has always been a hero of mine ... I often wish I was a lost boy
You told a romping tale here, worthy of Neverland capri
-
great write! i love your format, how you took quotes from j.m. barrie's story and integrated it with the personal thoughts of the character whose perspective you were writing from! very well done! good luck in the contest!

The repetition of Captain Hook in this part:
'Throw in your lot with Captain Hook
And his dastardly pirates…
"And cater to Captain Hook!"'
Actually, in my opinion, doesn't play well. Maybe the last line as "And cater to the Captain.." or something to that accord.
I have written a few pieces similar to this, mine were a bit more metaphorical and basically lay on society and the atrocities stemming from it, but, I liked it.
Except for the last line, didn't like that. Seemed too abrupt.
A good piece that you have written here.

That was a really good poem!!! And it's cool that Kayla and you were both in Peter Pan musicals!!! lol
Ya, well, ours hasn't come out yet, but I'm gonna be there cheering on Kayla!!! hehehe Right in the front row!! lol
ya, its cool that you were in it, and that you wrote a poem about it too!! lol
That's really cool!!

lol, i see, well, whoever said the line "she's a lousy mother" was me
anyway, our indians are all girls too
and john is a girl...and she's going out with her brother micheal
who's like a whole foot taller than her even though he's supposed to be younger
lol. we have lots of girl lost boys, but there are some guys...lol
i love that you were actually in it too, that's so cool

I was just a nameless pirate. But it was great fun nonetheless. We didn't have enough guys to fill in all the guy parts, so we had an all-female indian tribe, and all the Lost "boys" were really girls, except for the little kids we recruited from the elementary school. I don't remember a "Bug" as a lost boy..they may have had to cut the part because of the limited amount of people we had. I was a pirate wench- that was what the guys called us female pirates. Good times!!
-
oh, and in case you don't recognize which lost boy i am, i'm the one that calls wendy a lousy mother
, and i'm the lost boy that runs on stage by myself and gets chased off by the pirates
(i'm not sure if bug did that in your version, Rod just chose me cuz i'm small, so i slide through a pirates legs
)

oh my gosh, i absolutely loved this!!! i'm also in the musical, as you can tell by the blurb about this in my challenge description, and we alllll had to sing the "we're bloody buccaneers" song for our audition
so that just totally made everything stick out, cuz it joins us together as fellow drama clubbers
anyway, this is exactly what i was looking for for this choice
the only way you coulda made it better is mentioning the lost boy named Bug...cuz that's who i'm playing
lol, just kidding, i loved this
just out of curiosity, which pirate were you? did you have any lines?
oh, and i loved the end when you said "i know I did" cuz i love being a part of this play cuz i get to be in neverland...as a kid, i've always loved the peter pan story cuz it's so magical and i've always wanted to fly...so being part of all the magic is going to be awesome
thanks for this entry, it made my day
I almost squealed with delight when i saw "there was a new entry to your contest: a walk through neverland by shadowsong" cuz this was the choice i wanted a LOT of entries for
thanks again, and good luck
