Unable to wash away what could never last
tears flow over, through and then past.
Lost forever, no land edge in sight,
forever shattered in just one night.
The sacred words of a vow once spoken,
can never be re-said once they are broken.
Forgiveness, possible, but not healing,
without trust, love's bind unsealing.
Two souls unbound, both alone once more.
Separations pain, burning in love's core.
Despite the choices made in pillow's crease
both have felt commitment rend, and release.
