In His Spirit

Christmas morning brings much cheer,
excitement fills the air.
Expected gifts are wrapped with bows,
done with love and care.

Stockings filled with sweets and treats,
always a surprise or two.
Family gathers around the tree,
a tradition they continue to do.

Paper flying everywhere,
when the giving does begin.
Laughter, hugs and kisses too,
sharing of love from deep within.

All is done it's over now,
receiving more than you ask.
Now relax and feel the love,
in His spirit may you bask.

This is a great Christmas poem. I could see your family gathered around the tree with your hearts filled with happiness. I am surprised that I never ran across this one. I am glad that Christmas is over although I love the spirit of Christmas. My house is finally back in order.

Very well done. This is amazing, particularly given the time you have had to come up with an entry. I am so glad you submitted something for this contest. I'm a great admirer of your poetry, and I love this quote. I recieved it in an email regarding the results a teacher got when she asked her students various questions. The one that elicited this response was, of course - "What is love?" Children see so clearly sometimes and express things, in their innocence, that we write volumes about without ever touching the truth. Hope you enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed reading your poem. Thanks for entering.
