These men and women enter as their own person,
Their family is at home waiting for them,
When they joined though they didn't realize completely,
That these people,
The ones who will fight side by side with them,
Will become their second family.
They won't be in this alone,
They have those fighting along side them,
Keeping them going,
Keeping them strong.
These men and women
They aren't just the protectors of freedom,
They are a family.
A family
We should never forget.

Beautiful tribute to our troops. People don't realize how much they sacrifice for us and for each other. I like what pianokidd said about them being part of our family too. Good write!
