The Bermuda Triangle

The captain was so excited that day,
we had opened the door to our salvation.
For years we had searched for a passageway,
a way to end our growing starvation.
Before our eyes, without further delay,
a door opened wide to our elation.
We could travel from there and back to here;
we could eat our fill and then disappear.

The ships and the planes in an endless stream,
transcending time as they enter the door.
With our bellies full, our faces do gleam,
no sailor could possibly ask for more.
We are the beings that are far supreme
as we live in a spaceship far offshore.
We are now immortal, our lives preserved
by eating the people when dinner is served.

Ah yes, people eating, I love it! You have a vivid imagination and your poem opens up new possibilities about the triangle. Nice one!

    Hmmmmm
OK so it is silly rather than dark but I'm better at silly and I thought we should get some revenge!

Off the Florida shores a Kraken awakes
Stirred by a noise that he cannot recall
He knows every sound that each creature makes
And this is not anything like them at all
Holding the ship a strange journey he takes
Traversing a distance that none would call small
Krakens the world over always agree
Blood thirtsy aliens taste good for tea!

    Well done!

Well-written and a bit scary! I thought I only had to worry about the plane going down or the ship being sunk and now I have to worry about being eaten by aliens, too! Best of luck in the contest.

    Ah The Bermuda Triangle

IT does exist and here is the twist. If you hit it right, you may not come back. Since I have been close so they say, I really enjoyed this poem. Question: Did you eat the people that served the dinner? If so, wow!
This was fun to read and made me wonder if it does exist why did our ship miss?

Carnival Cruiselines just lost a lot of business because of you... hahaha. Great take on the prompt. I've seen them out there with my telescope. This should do well in the contest.

That is wonderfully dark. I love "corruption" of forms by using them for something different. You have been writing searing love sonnets now this!!!!!! What a contrast.
You do however present me with a problem!
I have to write an Ottava Rima comment poem with a visciously dark surprise ending. OK but it will take more time than usual!

Awesome write, Sis. I think this is also the first poem I've read about the Bermuda triangle. I liked the imagery and the sense of adventure in this piece. Wonderful poetic form, too. Good luck in the contest.

I do believe this is the first read I have seen on The Bermuda Triangle. I often wonder what it is that makes those ships and planes disappear out there. You did a great job on this one!!

Best of luck in this contest!

    and love
