those little
"I love you"s
and "I'll never let you go"
were like music to my ears
a naive little girl I was
believing
in fairytales
and Prince Charmings
but now I know
how no suger- coated fantasy
can ever really
be true
I found myself
on the edge
trying to run back
furiously fighting
the wind
but all I was doing
was plunging
right down.
and to add insult to injury,
your arms were around
a beautiful lass
you petted her hair,
kissed her
and even
hugged her tight
like you did to me
so long ago...
that smile still rang through
for I knew
fantasy doesn't exist.
