The woman who rescued Issa claimed that there was something special about her and she had a hard time letting her go. She liked her because her ear tips flip backwards, she has Michigan mitten paws and being the smallest of the kittens she was the only one to run when you called her, fast ahead of the rest.
A week into bringing her home it became apparent that her quiet nature was becoming lethargic and while holding her I noticed a fever. In the vets office she remained in my arms in a small towel not moving an inch. Upon examination the vet concluded that the swollen cheek was indeed fly larvae. I'd rather not talk about it but after shrill screaming that seemed to go on forever and a few tears shed of my own, she was delivered in my arms and fell fast asleep. Due to infection she would have passed away had she not been rescued.
Today she is a very playful girl and eats like the bowl is never full enough. She retained her sweet nature, the type of kitty who nurtures me, licks my face until I'm sure I've just received a free face lift and follows me everywhere. If I get up she gets up, then I am followed into whatever room I choose. She loves to sit with me at my computer desk and sleep while I rub her tummy. Her trusting nature has lent to many falls. She tries to throw herself upon me only to fall through the keyboard to the floor. She thinks arms will magically appear to hold her like a baby.
Issaboo was an owl in her former life as she picks things up in her mouth and carries them to some unknown place. My earrings, flower pot stones, pens and hundreds of other items disappear daily. Her older feline brother Baby, wants nothing to do with her most of the time and she loves cuddling with our yorkipoo whose name is Ben. Oh the tales will never cease but I feel as if she was sent to teach me how to love unconditionally. I've had many animals in my life but Issa's spirit is extremely unique. It hurts to even leave her for a day though she seems fine when mom is gone lol. She is helping me through empty nest syndrome and often reminds me of why I don't miss having another baby constantly in my bedroom.....giggle.

Issa has an extra toe on each foot more commonly known as, "Michigan Mittens" Can you see it?
