Tea Time at Butchart Gardens

Delightful discovery
for afternoon tea...
the world famous gardens
near Victoria, BC.

The island climate pampers roses,
with vibrant fragrance each breed poses.

In former quarry, sunken gardens
rich ruby, emerald, beryl bloom.
All join the soaring hymn to color
as branches sway to nature's tune.

We wade in wondrous waves of floral sea
before we savor midday English tea.

Ambrosial Earl Grey
and fresh clotted cream,
with crumpets and jam
found fit for a queen.

Her Spring blush enfolds us,
lush ferns float above.
Vancouver memories...
recalled, with much love.

My dear Joyce...Here I am, chosing this topic of nature and gardens, and Wow..Butchart Gardens! Again our worlds merge at a familiar place for the two of us...You bring back the memories of several visits there, and the roses and flower beds with the old Victorian mood of high tea with crumpets! My this is a delightful write of cheer! Invigorating nostalgia....Bookmarking! Thank you for the visit again! Bravo! Rosemary

It really is that beautiful! The years we lived near Vancouver BC, we'd always take those who visited us to Butchard Gardens, once we had discovered it ourselves.
So, I've had tea there a number of times.

That sounds so good. Can I come for tea? I enjoy tea. Do you have those little finger sandwiches too? Those are so good.

You have described in your piece one of my absolute favorite pastimes: high tea with all the trimmings! My mum and I treat each other depending on whose birthday it is, and I take her out also for Mother's Day. To have it served in those gardens . . . oh my, it must have been beautiful. Excellent rhythm in your piece. I really enjoyed it!

You gave me a vision of your own private garden. There's a reason you won the gold and it's very deserved.

    Perfect from top to bottom

I can see why this won Gold.

The charming background settled me in the mood and I could smell the Earl Grey here and taste the crumpets

Thanks so much Cindy. I'm glad you like it. Everyone who came to visit us in British Columbia (the five years we lived there) we took to Vancouver Island, the Gardens, and Afternoon Tea there.

What a unique and delightful scene you portray! Very nice juxtaposition of 'quarry' and gemstone colors. I especially liked "we soak in wonderous waves of floral sea" and "lush ferns float above." Nice alliteration and rhyme, meter varies. Easy to see it as a loved recollection
