The Stiletto Gait

Clack Clackity Clum
to the beat of an African drum,
I step proudly;
here I come... clum clum clum

Each forward move is gaited with pep
as I take a forward step.
I am stepping away from depression
unto a Bigger and Better destination... clack clack clum

I am a soul that's solely walking so as to heal
so watch my heel
as I reveal
each trudging path I pursue... clack clack clum

My stilettos add height
as my hips move to the right
much to the delight of ravenous roaming retinas
damn the stiletto walk is sexy!... clack clack clum

These shoes add:
4 inches of upward mobility
and
4 decibels of rythmic energy- clack clack clum

So even if I'm barefeet,
the stiletto sounds sing soft and sweet
in my ear
as I glide poisefully across this runway called life.

Clack Clack Clum.

Is it relatable?

Oh, my, I loved it! The "clack clack clum"s were sensational. They added such bounce and rhythm to the piece, and really gave that "liberated" feel I think you were trying to achieve. I love the soul and self-confindence this woman. You've done some other very creative things with your phrases. I loved the consonance and assonance, and the double meaning of the "4 inches of upward mobility" was so clever. This was a woman who knew who she was and where she was going. I loved it. What a fun way to speak of a serious subject. Well done!!!

    Moving!

Shoes represent movement and heels signify upliftment. The use of onomatopoeia has echoed the need for women to step away from patriarchal entanglements and it speaks to the sexual assertiveness of the Modern Aged career woman. This piece was intended to praise independent, confident and liberated women who are not afraid to express their presence. I hope you like this piece and can relate to its symbolism.
