Blue waves sweep across horizons
To merge with rosy skies,
As the sun does fade and set
Against my lazy eyes.
I drifted into daydreams
Where the dark never went,
Where I woke to the same life,
And she did still assent….
To tan the san in brazen bronze
And shade the palm tree’s feet,
To shimmer the waves in blazon life
As their frothy heads did rise and seek
Our shore where did climb to meet
My body lying at their feet….
There their tepid tides did tickle toes
And bathe my body in bubbly heat,
And then as tide did lift my limbs,
I saw my angel of the deep!
Her beauty lighted up the sun
As she ran to power the waves,
Her smile painted the shimmering light
That left me in a daze.
Her blond hair fluttered to fuel the wind
And her slender figure drew me in…
And, as she reached out with her hand
I was transported off the sand,
And pulled into the ‘bluey’ depths
To meet my angel of the deep….
But instead I fell through the waves,
And felt my dreamlike daze change …
Perfection faded in my eyes
And I felt the edge of something strange…
I realised then this bluest sea
Was, but reflected from her eyes,
And as we faded so would this
My dreams, and all these lies.
For the blazon bronze of this sand
Was, but colour fallen from her hand,
And the sun’s greatest shimmering light
Shone but of her smile’s white,
Until the rosy sunset of the sky
Faded like her dreamlike kisses drifted by,
And the greatest joy I feel
Was crushed by realty’s twist of fortune’s wheel…
As I crashed off edge of bed to floor,
And saw us fall back to the deep….
Perfection faded in my eyes
And my dream did too retreat…..
Then sun did fade upon our love
And in its place formed greying fleet,
And as I clung to her fading limbs
The alarm shattered my sleep.
And there before me lay my angel of the not-so-deep….
But she was different in the clouds of English skies,
And though I still saw sunlight shining in her eyes
I knew she would not ‘rosen’ my sunsets with her lips,
For 'reality' had ended my dreamlike lies,
And here, 'reality' had proclaimed only our friendship.
And thus I called out to my angel of the deep….
For a bit longer I’d like to just….sleep,
But there was only silence from my floor,
Even though I know somewhere else….
My angel and I together, will always wander that distant, sun-kissed shore…

An unexpected ending! It's one of those you have to carry on reading to really get into it and I love poems like that. I thought your ideas were great, no forced rhyme and a fabulous atmosphere to your work! Keep writing

Thank you so much for your comments.
I do think this poem is far from perfect though, if there's anything you thought could be improved, would be interesting to hear.
