I would liken you to all that is beautiful.
Like the soft, fragile beauty of a rose,
such is your softness
and through this softness,
your beauty is thus, magnified.
If ever I was asked to describe you,
I would liken you to an evening sunset
with its colors blending;
Painting nature's portrait in a golden sky.
Such, would be your portrait--
For, like a sunset, your beauty is magnetic;
Drawing attention to itself;
Holding one's eye with its inner-magnificence
that cannot help but, shine outwardly.
For, your beauty is natural;
Not attained by artificial means.
It is internal as well as external.
It is pure and unblemished.
Your beauty shines through your eyes;
It is heard in your voice;
It is felt in your gentle smile and touch
and to know you, is to know pure beauty itself!

**PIF Contest Prompt #3 I drink the sunrise in your eyes and dance a fire in your sighs
A Dedication to 'Penny'!
This was written for a young lady who infatuated me.
She possessed a beauty that was both physical on the outside and an inner beauty that made her even more radiant.
A physical beauty will fade through time, but an inner beauty will only continue to blossom with the passing of the years.
I never had a relationship with this young lady, although I would have liked to.
It was an admiration or infatuation that I felt for her.
I gave her this composition in a glass frame when we were on a picnic together.
Her smile lit up my world.

Congratulations on the Silver & Emerald Cups!!
This is a most beautiful poem of love; for the inner and the outer beauty of a delicate, radiant soul, such as you have described in this heart-felt masterpiece.
It is this beauty in life which makes the world go 'round, as it plays the tune of the heart-strings.... You've done fine justice to this romantic idealism.
Thank you for sharing such a lovely poem with us!!
Peace & hugs, xx Cyn xx

Ohhh wow!!!
What a wondeful tribute to this young lady!
I'm so flattered that you said it describes me as well. Unbelievable!
I love the analogies you used to liken her beauty to: a rose, a sunset, emphasizing all the while that the external beauty will fade, but internal beauty will always remain.
I agree with Shahrazad - your author's comments were wonderful and added such a nice touch to the poem.
I'm so glad you shared this with me.
Thank you, again, for your kindness!

WOW!!
How lucky she was to receive such a beautiful gift from your heart.
Such, would be your portrait--
For, like a sunset, your beauty is magnetic;
Drawing attention to itself;
Holding one's eye with its inner-magnificence
that cannot help but, shine outwardly.
Stunning...your words literally caress the reader...so romantic.

This is very, very nice. What a sweet poem to write to your infatuation. She does indeed sound like a lovely lady, both inside and out. The imagery that you use comparing her beauty to a rose and a sunset is good. I especially like this line too;
"A physical beauty will fade through time, but an inner beauty will only continue to blossom with the passing of the years."
Best of luck in the contest and thanx for sharing!
-
And they say.
And they say that romance is dead, but it isn't. Your poem certainly proves that. The best of luck in this contest.
-
So touching and to know that you never had the joy of sharing every moment with her, but if you have the positive memory of just her exisitance is something that every man should get the chance to feel. I hope that deep inside my husband feels that way about me.
