My soul is a gaping maw,
stretched wide in a mimed shriek,
at the horrors all around me.
My heart an open sore,
oozes the pus of pain.
I like many, have a poetic voice,
but too often it goes unheard,
while troops die,
and babies are butchered,
Children starve in far off countries,
and incompetent Commanders-In-Grief
rule us with stupidity and greed.
Editors like predators slice and dice
the etchings of my art,
into pink slips of cold flesh.
Love is an elusive bird at times,
one can hear it's song,
and see its beauty all around them,
but seldom can hold the quivering warmth
of such wondrous flight in their hungry hands.
So I sit Helen Keller like,
pounding on the keys to understanding,
hoping a trickle will flow through
and be absorbed by the population
so in dire need of fresh inspiration.

Alright, I'm absorbing..this is some heavy write, artis..so sad, forlorn. I wish I could make things better..I wish we all could..but not while the Money Gods and Power Gods take and take, and leave nothing but pain, in it's place.
You've given me alot to ponder, for the day.
I hope you win your contest,
Jin

Makes you want to grab the world by the shoulders and shake the S**** out of it doesn't it??? You are not alone, there are some of us who feel the same way. And while this isn't always a consolation, it at least let's you know you aren't crazy...or at least not the only crazy one. Have an idea...wanna have a sit in?
Raw and edgy....just the way I like it.

"So I sit Helen Keller like,"
Very nice description. Very clear and very creative. Thanks for the read. Good luck in the contest! -
I think there are so many people out there who feel this inner rage at the yawning chasm between the inner truths that you speak of here, and this tragic and stupid world we have created. This poem is a mirror to that rage that we are all sharing. Good write.

I paused when I read those liens. My heart stopped and I felt that tears were close. This is wonderful. The title is appropriate, as well. This is the kind of poetry that excites me. I wrote a piece a couple of days ago and posted it. It was a war cry and a calling out to all poets to use their words to bring about change. This is as effective a piece as I could have intended. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!!! I am bookmarking this right away! Keep it up. -
