The Sad Tale Of John and Mavis ~ A Limerick




I have an old friend named John Davis
whose unhappy wife was named Mavis
she was mild but not meek
a new name she did seek
detesting the name Mavis Davis

This is such a sad story my dears
one I think will have you all in tears
she vowed to stay his wife
and cause him no more strife
if he'd only stop boxing her ears

    This is a cute and clever limerick. One of my friends was recently married and bemoaned the fact that her new name would be Mary Perry. She decided to keep her maiden name. Thank you for your entry in this contest. Peace, Liz
