Silent Glory

I have come, just as I knew I would,
determinedly clinging to the strong arm you proffer,
life flows strong from root buried in the bowels of earth.

Eons have passed, moons have waxed and waned,
birds have nested, laid their life's fruit, produced offspring
winds have whispered their secrets amongst your branches.

Creaks and groans have choir-ed the air,
shadows willingly danced at your mesmeric bidding,
whilst hands have lovingly traced your aged bark.

Yet not one has been touched as I,
welcomed, been moved by your ancient ritual in awe,
paid homage to your silent glory.

A wonderful write..... this reads smoothly with a steady cadence to the final stanza. It has a feel of "fantasy" about it that is alluring.

That's an adorable picture to find inspiration from. I really enjoyed this poem. I actually kind of thought of Merry and Pippin in Lord o the Rings when they are in Fangorn Forest with the Ents. Anyway, this was really great, well done. (I'm not usually a fan of free verse but I honestly enjoyed this.)
