Historic thoughts ~ Kyrielle

Brutal treatment, false perception
Elite racial motivation
Past is present, was built through strife
Evokes memories, thoughts of life

Color blind wishes, can appear
Awkward truth of genetic fear
Shame of a nation, scene as blight
Evokes memories, thoughts of life

Wishful change felt by the countless
Struggle to succeed, seems endless
Racial equity moves from strife
Evokes memories, thoughts of life

Author notes

Wanted to go with a hopeful message with historic feelings.

A Kyrielle is a French form of rhyming poetry written in quatrains (a stanza consisting of 4 lines),
and each quatrain contains a repeating line or phrase as a refrain (usually appearing as the last
line of each stanza). Each line within the poem consists of only eight syllables. There is no limit
to the amount of stanzas a Kyrielle may have, but three is considered the accepted minimum.

Some popular rhyming schemes for a Kyrielle are: aabB, ccbB, ddbB, with B being the repeated
line, or abaB, cbcB, dbdB.

You've used the Form well with this work poet. Thank you for this positive message. We have had struggle and will continue to have it. While holding in my heart, the evidence that "all men/women are created equal", I sit and ponder why anyone would declare that there be a lessor people, ever! I too wish all were "colorblind". Maybe it can happen one at a time. Here's a cheer for the two of us!

Thank you for this well written entry and we do wish you the best in the Comp.

    Much Love & Respect ♥
