The Lady

When my tears could fall no more
When my eyes bled bruised and sore
The Lady came, from old folklore
And said, "What are you crying for?"

I looked at her, so soft and fair
I wondered, 'Is she really there?'
Her eyes were kind, showed deepest care
Just like the stars, her light would dare

An angel, she must surely be
There's nothing quite as dear as she
But when I asked, she laughed at me!
Said, "I am just a girl who's free."

I couldn't ask what that had meant
The Lady: "My time's almost spent
Please, whose tears have you been lent
To cry until you're Heaven sent?"

My tears, though they had been my own
Were something that much like a loan
My heart had taken flight and flown
Then crashed back down, as did the phone

"So much is wrong, my Lady white,
Why did we have another fight?
I only wished for one small height
That could come within both our sight!

They all are gone, now she as well
I think this is my blood red hell
The one through which I slipped and fell
When I heard first the door's loud bell!

What can I do to make this right?
I'll work for it with all my might!
Please, let me know, my Lady white
That darkness has not snatched all light?"

She turned, and touched me on the head
Then carried me back to my bed
She instantly dissolved all dread
And cleared the path on which I tread

I tried to speak, but she spoke no
"Your heart is weak and wounded so
My dear, you may be cursed and low
But this is not the way to go."

The Lady then lifted me high
And we soared through the starry sky
I couldn't help but wonder why
She only comes to those who cry

I loved her smile, and her eyes
More beautiful than any skies
A woman can do what she tries
Even if that one still cries

"You are in pain and you are sad
And you must treasure what you had
But dear, this day is not all bad
You can't think that they would be mad!

It's not your fault, move on with life
It will not end in blood and strife
You are to be a mother, wife
Don't give it to the blades of the knife!"

She said, as she put me to sleep
"I know your light will always keep
Remember, as you slumber deep
The darkness will not always creep."

My angel Lady left that night
She flew still spewing blinding light
I hold that light so close and bright
And keep my word, in joy and freight.
