Silent Screams

In the deep of the night
Where the shadows dance and play
Thoughts that drag their sorry feet
Trying to escape the light of day
In this grotto in my head
Where icons are raised and relics lie
They lie quietly waiting there to pounce
Then bubble forth and begin to rise

Those silent screams and muted cries
And thoughts that crumble as they fly
Inside this darkness and deep abyss
Where legends lie waiting to be kissed
A place within this spider's web
That spans the universe inside my head

In light of day those silent screams
Are drowned out by the daily grind
Until the night time when it all seems
Things are quiet here inside my mind
But then they soon find and track me down
And I soon surrender I have no strength
They leave me broken with their sounds
And silent laughter that leaves me bent
