You smile and I smile back
You laugh and I laugh louder
You sing and I shine
You make feel like I'm so special
When I'm with you, I feel
More radiant than the sun on a beautiful day
With a gleam in your eye you tease me so sweetly
With a soft expression you ask me to dance
You held my hand
You gave me my first kiss
You said you loved me so
And I believed you
You said I was prettier than any girl you'd ever seen
Now tell me while looking me in the eye
Is that a lie
Or is it supposed to be a compliment?
You weaved a story
And threaded me into it
It sounded so real and perfect
Why would I doubt it?
Then one day
There was that party
On the phone you said
You were sick
How would I have known
You never meant it?
Because
Who did I see
But you making out with
My very best ex-friend
Turns out you guys had been dating
Behind my back
Ever since
Two weeks after
You and I
Hooked up for the third time
You obviously thought
I was totally
Stupid
And it turns out
You happened to be
Right about that one
But that's not true anymore
And all those memories
I had with you
Well, I guess
They just turned out to be
All a lie
Even if you liked me
I still wouldn't count it
There was no trust
So that just
Ruined
The moment
But something good came out
Of something that wasn't so right
I think if something seems too perfect
It's probably not
And it just might turn out as
All a lie
