Untitled

to feel you breathe,
as you lay. with me
pressed against your warm body.
to hear you move
as I slip into sleep,
without a single worry.
to move myself,
feeling you hold me closer,
never letting loose your grip.
to no longer dream,
because my mind cannot
produce something that exceeds this.
this is all I ever ask for.
what more could I need?
night after night, without you.
months, without you.
but now, no more.
not another night of your voice
and pictures, only in my head. and
the cold side of the bed where
once, you were laying, sleeping so
comfortably.
"goodnight, my love",
I can whisper.
"I'll see you in the morning."
and the wonderful part is,
I will.

Author notes

This is the first poem I've written in a few months, and the first I've posted in, forever. I'm not expecting some great, wonderful, profound piece. But I am happy to say that I like it.
