A weekend where I can get away from it all
off in that plane, as I pray we don't fall
finally I'm met at the end with a smile
thanking dear God I've yet to live for a while!
Whisked away in the car to the mountains beyond
to walk through the trees and sit under fern fronds
breathing fresh air from the mountains around
for if I stay in the city I think I might drown!
Wildflowers poking their heads through the rocks
as native birds overhead fly around in their flocks
the gurgling stream as it flows bye and bye
as I sigh with this peace looking up at the sky.
Walking along I turn to look at the view
this scene goes on forever as the green meets the blue
it's at times like these that I feel so serene
for God's glory I see with nothing between.
Then for a wander through a quaint country town
tea, scones, jam and cream I just gobble on down
then all too soon it's time to head back to the hustle
as I pray once again for a plane with plenty of muscle!
Yet what a fine time I have had this weekend
if not for such trips I might just go round the bend
these times are important for my spirit to rest
as I await for next weekend when once more I'll be blessed.
