Dainty little rose,
How your thorns do protect you.
I grab, Then I bleed.
Is this why you're red?
By thousands of drops of blood?
What a mystery.
Thorns have no beauty
Yet they guard you day and night
Never wanting praise
Like guards to their queen,
Never sleeping, never lax,
Surely you are safe.
Dainty little rose
I will not pluck you today.
Loyal little thorns.
Author notes
a series of Haiku about the loyal thorns that protect the beautiful rose. Like a royal guard protects it's queen

Oh this is awesome! I loved the analogy here

This is an joy to read as I didn't realize until the Author's Notes that these were a series of Haikus. I love Haikus!
But the rules for this contest were for a 25 word poem and this is a great deal more than 25 so I'm going to have to leave you out of consideration for a trophy.
Thanks for entering though!
