Memories

Your voice it rings in my ears
Faint echoes of your life now lost
Your laugh it brightens up my dreams
But reality hits eventually
The emptiness it burns
frozen solid in my core
The smile that used to warm me
now chills me to the bone
When you left, part of me did too
Our midnight chats
and drunken acts
still linger here in my thoughts
My heart's gone cold
Like your skin now pale
The beating is faint
But the throbbing aches
Your face I see in photographs
And the tears begin to form
For the face I see does not hold the soul I cherished day by day
To just see you again I’d put my life on the line
If only I had talked to you before
So I could have said goodbye once more
But always know this, my dear friend,
I’ll love you ‘till my very end

sarah, sarah, sarah, i can always tell your writing. i love the direction you took with this one. it seems a passive memoir of the good times that two friends shared and how the surviving of the two is managing. this is an almost exact representation of how i felt, and still feel about him to this day. this is one of your better writes hun. like i always say, never stop writing
