I get out of my van
One Friday morning
In the town of nowhere
I am inside a parking lot
Looking at where Ames used to be
Walking down further
A Chinese resturant,
A matress place,
and Dollar store.
Wow, I am so old.
You have to get
the right angle
By the orange rails
of an unknown store
To feel like crying
The right angle
of which I speak
Makes you feel
blue emotions
mostly about loss
I used to
go there
when I was young
It was like
one big party
It was simple
Back in the day,
Which always was
a Saturday,
By the way
It was simple
Love and toys
were my desire
little concept
of reality
As I got older
Crowds got smaller
and little by little
I became disenchanted
Becuase it was a lie.
But one Friday morning
I looked around
and It's a cold place
with a few people there
Stuck in the dream.

Awwww, you put a lump in my throat. I used to shop at Ames. Bought tons of Barbie dolls and clothes there. Bought my first record there too, Smokey Robinson, Being with you. Even got some pretty dresses there. And there was a Photomat out in the parking lot. I moved out of that town, now, so I don't know what's there anymore, but I know Ames moved out years ago.
Thanks for entering my contest.
