Theatre Of Dreams

Should I curse cruel Romulus and Remus,
did demons furnace this euphonious hell,
will I feel but graceless pain,
and die well?

Blooded Plebeian roars call nearer,
my demise. Ignoble twist of fates.
Embattled hope from courage gone.
Cold heartless death, awaits.

Is this some former life which
draws me here once more?
Some shadowed episode
of some Romantic war?

You seize my mindless drifting.
In daylight dream you taunt me.
Twixt realm of yours, and realm of mine,
Spartacus, you haunt me.

This feeling of my blood in sand.
This death of mine in foreign land.
A death recurring, or so it seems.
A death I live, in painful dreams.

Author notes

I am just fascinated by this period in history, and I go there when I can, mentally and physically. The amphitheatres in Rome, Pompei and Verona which I visited just struck something deep inside. A feeling.

Wow. Your mind is much more mythological than mine

Actually, I have been fascinated with ancient Greece and Rome myself, but I don't think my fascination is to the extent that yours is.

Thank you for entering my contest.
