Tied together by rainbows,
Ephemeral as they are bright,
I am imperfect glass and you are a distant star.
I offer just a misshapen reflection
Of your own simple sweetness,
My warped interpretation
Of a life I'll never know.
Your sea glass eyes shatter me
With their piercing certainty
That there are secrets you're content to ignore.
My breath and my love are invisible,
Yet how can you not feel either warmth?
Technicolor spillage reminds me
That you can't miss what you've never seen.
I am a fragile prism.
I break your light into color to show
That we can be beautiful together as one.
Yet still you pass by and I am left,
Clear and tear-shaped in the shadows.
If you are the star,
Why am I the one falling?
