And there the lion's ruddy eyes
Shall flow with tears of gold,
And pitying the tender cries,
And walking round the fold,
Saying, "Wrath, by His meekness,
And, by His health, sickness
Is driven away
From our immortal day.
excerpt from "Night" by William Blake.
I want this written on my tombstone because its message is one of hope, as it says that God, being the "His" in the poem, will take away anger and sickness, but at the same time it would have a second meaning, which I always enjoy, being that its a kind of pun to have on my tombstone, because it means that God takes away our wrath and sickness by taking our lives. Also, it is from the poem "Night" which tells of an end to a day, but which can also symbolize an end to a life.
