I watch your wings fade white to black
As you fall from your pedestal.

For I'm alone among the clouds.

I can't peer over from my perch
For fear that I may follow you.

I pray that you will keep strong faith
And that your wings will fly you back.

I wait in silence for your call,
But nothingness now greets my ears.
Dear Angel of my heart,
I fear that you've forgotten me
Because you've fallen from my sight.
Dear Angel of my heart,
I still have hope that you'll come back
Though chances now are looking bleak.
Dear Angel of my heart,
I must now find another soul
Because you shall always have mine.
Dear Angel of my heart,
I will remember all the times
You brightened up my broken life.
Dear Angel of my heart,
I need to heal my shattered core
Lest you come 'round and I am gone.
And you, dear Angel of my heart,
I know that God will keep you safe
Until the day of your return.

To the falling "Angel" who inspired this and many other pieces... I hope someday we can forgive each other--that you can forgive me for letting you go, and that I can forgive you for pushing me away.
