Captured-
A rainbow hummingbird in your filigree net
My heart fluttering and straining against the
Inevitable
How did I not see this coming?
A nectar to sweet to resist
I was lured
Ever so slowly, you untangle one hued wing
Then the other
All the while whispering sweet nothings into the air
To calm and sedate me
Until, at last, I sit wholly contented in your palm
Then with one calculated look, you clip my pinions
My tail and all the secondaries I have
You clasp a ring about my foot to a
Matching circlet about your finger
And I sing my song of rejoice
For what do I care if I can't reach the skies
Or race the winds to the ends of time?
So long as I sit to be admired by you
The rest of the world has ended
And your eyes hold all the promise I need
In a list
